Spring Break Trip To Arches National Park in Moab Utah

We had a great trip to Arches National Park in Moab as a family for Spring Break. We love the outdoors. We did a lot of hiking, some biking, some swimming and some eating. (Not much sleeping- the hotel bed was harder than a rock and my boney hips need some cushion).

1st day we set out hiking. We went to "Double Arch" first, which was amazing. The weather was nice. As you can tell from the pictures, there are two arches right next to each other. I just stand back in aw at all of God's creations. I just love this stuff and thinking about how it all evolved.

Next stop was a three mile hike up to "Delicate Arch" . Delicate Arch is the most famous of the Arches. It is the one on the license plates. The hike was a bit scary for the little ones. The path leading to the Arch was narrow and a steep drop below. Addison hiked over to the Arch and stood under it for a picture. We had to hug the rocks with the little ones. It is definitely an amazing site to see.

Next, we took a more leveled hike through beautiful landscape to "Landscape Arch". Landscape Arch is the longest Arch in the world. It spans over 600 feet. It is fragile and as recent as 1990 lost a large piece from under the Arch. People are no longer allowed to hike right to the same area so to not disturb the Arch.

We stopped for our first bike ride of the trip. We got all geared up, bikes ready and set out with the whole family. About a half mile down the path, we had a WIPEOUT! Avery was down. He hurt his back a bit and chose to head back to the car, so Mom of course followed. Ammon, Addison and Ada on the

TAG-A- LONG continued on for a while. They came back and loaded up most of the bikes. Ammon and Addison biked down a different path and I drove down to the bottom and waited to pick them up.

Not soon enough for the kids, we finally got to play in the pool at the Hotel that evening. It has a really fun water slide that everyone had plenty of turns on.

The pool was of course the

"thing they all liked the most about the trip".

Day two- more hiking. On search of Dinosaur tracks, bones, fossils, etc. We found many. The sites that we went to led us to marked areas where we could easily find them. Addison wanted to chisel away and bring some home. We told him that was a BIG NO NO!

After our search for Prehistoric Findings, we went to a slick rock trail to do some more biking. It was a lot of fun. We ate Subway sandwiches on the top of the rocks, biked around and made our own form of petroglyphs.

Below is my favorite picture of the whole trip. How CUTE is that! Avery and Ada taking care of each other on the slick rock hills.

Ammon and I took a short ride together on the slick rock. It is a fun place to ride, but the little ones couldn't do it. I stayed and played with them while Addison and Ammon biked it for a couple of hours. Next time- biking without the kids. It was fun to play though.

Last day- we went and found the infamous "Allosaurus Tracks" that are resting on a large square boulder hanging on a cliff. The are definitely Dinosaur Tracks. Pretty amazing.

These Petryglyphs are from the Puebloan, Freemont and Ute cultures that

once populated this area.

Last stop before heading home, we went in search of the Dinosaur Tracks. We stopped to observe the JEEP SAFARI that was taking place that weekend. All of Moab was invaded by thousands of Jeeps, Hummers, Rock crawlers, etc. It was fun to see all the different get-ups. They have set trails they climb one right after another. Some struggle, and for some it is smooth sailing. Many I am sure rolled on some of the rough terrain. It was fun to watch for a bit.

It was a GREAT trip close to home. The amazing thing to me is the diversity of our state. From one hill to the next it can go from green and snow capped to Dry and Red Rock. I love nature and I am so grateful that I am able to get out and enjoy it with my family. I am especially thankful for a husband that take the time and effort to do things for us so that we can have these memories. Love you Ammon! Thanks for a fun time.

Looks like all of you had a great time in the "Red Rock" country. You'll always look back at these times with fond memories. We're glad you did get hurt. Time seems to fly by, so enjoy your time together before the kids all grow up. You got some beautiful pictures of some of God's most beautiful creations.

Love you all,

Grandpa Bart

I too have been listening to the songs on your blog. They impress and inspire me also and fill me with gratitude for a daughter who sees beauty and good and shows gratitude for all of those things.
We are blessed to all those who have the talent to share their musical abilities with us and we are blessed when we feel the inspiration of truly beautiful and uplifting music. We love you and your family very much and count our blessings everyday that you are a part of our lives. May God continue to bless you with His Spirit and help share your love for Him with others everywhere you go and in all you do.

Love always, Dad
