Priest Quorum Bike/Hike/Swim/Camp Trip

Ammon and Addison were able to spend Monday through Wednesday adventuring with the Priest in our ward.  They went to St. Charles Canyon where they camped.  They drove to Bloomington Lake where they played in the freezing water and then biked back to St. Charles Canyon. They did some hiking  through Minnetonka Cave and then on the way home, they went to Oneida and floated the river.  I am a bit jealous, because it all sounds fun and it is usually the boys who get to have all the adventures.
I am glad that Ammon went.  He was the only dad that went ( other than the Bishop).  He is good to support the kids and spend time with them.  It also helps that we have a passenger van, so we usually end up being the transportation for most trips and outings, but that's okay, we got the van for just that very reason.  It definitely get's used.

Addison made it home about two hours before he had a race at Mountain Crest.  He was beat to say the least.  I had to keep waking him up.  He also had some cuts on the bottom of his feet from the river ( no watershoes) and his thigh was sore from a rock/squirrel incident. ( Long Story!)

Avery's 1st campout as a BOY SCOUT

Avery is now in the eleven year old scout troop.  He was so excited to go on his first camp up to Maple Rise.  In his troop meetings, they planned the campout, including their camp troop name.  They wanted to call themselves the FLAMIN' TIGERS and Avery volunteered to make the flag.  When he came home and told me that he was suppose to make a flag, I asked him why he had to and he told me that he volunteered.  I thought, "great!  this means that he volunteered his mom."  I had plenty to do and really didn't want to make their troop flag.  Avery kept asking me when we could get around to making the flag and I kept putting off until I just couldn't put it off any longer. I found a piece of fabric and copied a clipart image off the computer.  Avery looked at the clip art and then hand sketched the tiger all by himself on to some orange sticker vinyl that I had.  He didn't trace it or anything.  He just looked at it as he drew it on the vinyl.  I was so impressed with how good he did.  However, we decided to change the name of their troop from the Flamin' Tigers to the FIRE TIGERS.  "Flamin' " isn't the best representation of a group of young boys for obvious reasons, so we advised against that one.

Avery had a great time and learned a lot.  I can't believe he is already old enough to be in Boy Scouts.  He'll be a Eagle before we know it~ I hope!

Our Eagle Scout

Addison Received his Eagle Scout last night at our wards Court of Honor.  He has had a eventful week.  He turned sixteen, got his drivers license, was ordained as a Priest and received his Eagle Scout Award. We are so proud of the young man he is and the man he is becoming.  He is a shy and quiet individual and doesn't express much, but he is grateful for all those that have influenced his life in scouting and the gospel.  He is fortunate to be surrounded by some great examples as friends.  We don't ever have to worry about the  choices he is making because we know who he is with and they are respectful, good boys.

We gathered up much of his interests and memorabilia for the Court of Honor.

Brother Hall was conducting the Court of Honor.

Bishop Godfrey ( a great man and friend)

It was fun to watch the slideshow including many fun times with Addison as well as look at pictures and memorabilia.

Grandma and Grandpa Eborn came to support him and gave him a Eagle Statue that we will have engraved. He loved it and we appreciate Grandma and Grandpa supporting him for his big day.

ON MY HONOR...........

Addison and his Leader Layne Merritt. Layne was a great instrument in Addison's success and we appreciate his example and dedication to the youth.

It's always nice to know that your kids have good friends.  Addison is lucky to be surrounded by the best young men in our ward.  They are kind, hard-working, honest boys and we appreciate their influence in Addison's life.

Cub Day Camp 2011

I attended my fourth Day Camp today. They are always a fun time . We had our biggest group so far this year. We had all 12 wolves/bears attend. I was so glad that they could all make it. I have gone when it was raining and cold, when it was windy and hot and when there were bugs swarming all around us. This year it was in the hot /bug category. It didn't slow the boys down......they boys had a blast! I heard many of them say that this was the best day of their life! I really enjoy working with these boys and I am grateful for the leaders that I have that sacrifice their time to serve these boys too!

Attending: Sister Heather Crockett, Wyatt Daugs, Paul Kelly, Tate Godfrey, Teddy May, Ben Crockett, Turner Ashton, Riley Sorensen, Joshua Skidmore, Tyler Napoli, James Anderson, Kyler Hugie, Austin Cooper, Sister Lisa Sorensen, Sister Alison Daugs

Webelo Over Nighter 2011

Avery has been a Webelo now for a couple of months. Being a Webelo means you get to go on a Webelo Over nighter. Ammon took Avery to Camp Fife last Saturday. Our Webelo den is rather small with only four boys. Three of them were able to attend. Kaden Hugie, Elias Olsen and Avery. They had a great time doing all the fun activities together and spending time with their dads alone. I think that these boys are three peas in a pod. They feed off eachothers personalities and have a great time. They will look back years from now at these pictures and just smile, I am sure!.

Addison's Eagle Scout Project

Addison tackled his Eagle Scout Project this past weekend with the help of many of his fellow young men/friends and leaders. We had a hard time trying to figure out what to do for his project. He has been ready for months now to do one. I decided to go to the Fairgrounds and ask if they might have anything that would help them and qualify for an Eagle Scout Project. They just happened to have one that was waiting for just such a thing. I was fortunate to have ran across it when I did. We snatched it up. The task was to paint the wood on the horse stalls at the fairgrounds. Addison measured the stalls to see how much paint was needed, the tools needed, etc. He gave his calculations to the Facilities Manager at the Fairgrounds and they paid for and supplied what was needed. I was worried that the painting was going to be hard to do because of all the metal surrounding each panel. We lucked out! They wanted to stain it instead. This was a lot easier and less messy on the metal. It made for a quicker project. He had to take down signs, etc. and reinstall them after staining them. But with the group of boys and leaders that helped, they whipped it out faster than with paint. Luckily the weather cooperated on that day too! It feels so good to have it taken care of. I felt like I was hounding Addison to do this and that every day regarding the project. There are phone calls, signatures, meetings, calculations and planning that all has to be done before the project can even start. Sometimes, it felt like I was pulling teeth to get some of it done, but we did it!I am very proud of Addison. He reached our goal to get it done before his Drivers License. He has worked hard and we appreciate all the leaders that helped him along the way. He has had some great examples for friends. We are very fortunate to live in an area that holds many hard working, good young men. He also has a father that has taught him how to work and the importance of serving. Ammon is a great leader, father and friend for Addison. I am so grateful for them both. His board of review will be soon and then he will have his Court Of Honor for his Eagle. We are so excited and love our Addison.

Good Job Bud!
