We held our annual Daugs Family Christmas Party this morning. As usual, our sweet Miriam pulls through and creates a great event. We had the largest attendance in years. We had all the family from Washington and even their children living in East. We did miss Kimerly and most of her family. Heather represented the Wagstaff family. She is always a trooper with her sweet little girls.
This is a picture of eight of the nine siblings with their stockings from their childhood. Winnie made each of their stockings and they all kept them and cherish them. Miriam assigned the siblings to fill another's stocking with items that they use to get as a child. It ranged from pringles , to almonds, to McDonalds coupons and batteries. They loved remembering their childhood favorites at Christmas.
Bonka Don with eight of his nine children.
These are our family advent calendars. These were also something that Winnie made. She had her own and would help each of us make ours as we got our own families. We all brought them to display. Mine is the one in the middle of this photo. Winnie helped me sew the pockets and I made all the pieces myself.
There was plenty to do. The kids helped ties fleece blankets and also enjoyed different art projects. Thanks Miriam for all the supplies for them! You are GREAT!!!!!
I especially loved the sayings that Miriam put around the displays about Tradition. We have a couple of traditions, but not nearly enough. I would love it if I could leave a mark on my family and their traditions later on. Winnie did a wonderful job of creating such fun memories and making them simple, yet special.
Some traditional decor that was always displayed around the Daugs Home around Christmas. I didn't get a picture of the traditional breakfast foods that we all helped make for our family breakfast. There was plenty to eat with Yellow Pancakes, Popovers, Apple Cake, thimble- sized orange juice, etc. We also made traditional treats from the Daugs family. We each were able to take home a plate. Yum! Yum!
It's not Christmas without the Nativity Scene of our Savior's birth. Ada was the beautiful Mary and Avery a very wise wiseman.
Ada and Avery were able to share their piano recital songs. They both really wanted to, so I didn't want to let that opportunity pass. Addison opted out of sharing his. :(
Our nephew Andrew played a couple of songs on his bagpipes. AWESOME!!!!! We didn't want him to stop, but we were even getting winded watching him. He does a great job and it isn't everyday that you know somebody that plays the bagpipes. He and his mother, Shari also sang a beautiful duet in the chapel, followed by all us singing Silent Night in german.
The children under twelve did a gift exchange. Ada had Aimee and MariAna had Ada. Avery had Logan and Wyatt had Avery. They were all happy with their gifts.
I am so thankful that Miriam put this all together. It was great. It was great to see everyone and do activities, remember Daugs Christmas from the Past , enjoy it in the Present and pass it on to the Future Generation.
Merry Christmas!
