My sister in law Christy commented on the dents and scratches that I recently acquired and likened them to how "Matter" from CARS saw his dents and scratches. I liked the analogy.....how he would never remove them because they are filled with memories of good times with people he loves. If I had the option to have or not have the scar, of course I would choose to NOT, but when I see the scar, I will think of the fun trip spending time with my family and friends. We really did have a lot of fun. It was a wonderful spur of the moment trip. On Tuesday we had the idea to just head south since the weather was to be in the 60's. We booked a hotel for the first two nights, loaded our bikes and gear and headed south to St. George.
LOOK!!!! I'm wearing a helmet!
We arrived in St. George on Wednesday night just in time to settle in to our room and watch TV, play Qwirkle and jump on the beds.
The next morning I dropped Ammon and Addison off for a bike ride with a few of Ammon's friends. They went for 22 miles while the kids and I played at the Washington indoor pool.
After the ride and pool time, we went to "Paula's" a mexican restraunt that we had heard about. It was pretty good.
The next morning, we went to Bear Claw Poppy and biked from the bottom for a few hours with our friends Dan and Marsha. We then went to get lunch and play at a park for a while. The weather was so nice.
Look! I'm still wearing helmet!
Again..... there's the helmet!
After lunch, we met up with more friends at a near-by hiking spot. We love to climb around on the rocks and the kids love to hide in the holes.

We cleaned up and went swimming and out to dinner with our friends. It was fun to hang out and talk. We stayed the third night with Dan and Marsha in a town home.
The next day, Ammon took Addison, Avery and I to the top of Bear Claw poppy to ride all the way down. It was fun. Avery was nervous doing some of the hills and would walk them..... but now I am really glad that he did because they can get ya! :)
We met up at the bottom with all our friends and pedaled some more. I went to the bottom with Ada and watched her do the easier stuff and took pictures. The group soon returned and we all just played around on our bikes at the bottom. I was taking pictures mostly.
As I finished taking pictures, I got back on my bike (WITHOUT A HELMET) and headed down the hill
to the car, when it only took a moment for me to be on the ground like this........
We spent the rest of our vacation in the Dixie Regional Hospital. But, as you can see, I have far more fun and happy pictures than bad. I am so glad that I was able to spend this time with my family and friends and grateful for the lessons learned and blessings received. I my have a sore body and a scar as a reminder of an unfortunate incident, but as Matter sees his dents and scratches, I will remember them as a fun and memorable trip with those I love.
Lesson: ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMET!!!
