Cache Box @ USU

Addison ran in the Cache Box XC Race this Wednesday on the USU course. This race includes, Box Elder, Bear River, West Side, Preston, Malad, Logan, Sky View and Mountain Crest.  He started off so good.  I was happy to see him in the top ten of all the boys in the first stretch.  By the time he came around again, he was in first.  I was so excited.  We watched and cheered as he kept his pace for the remaining distance ( 3.1 miles total). He kept the lead right up to the home stretch when a runner from Logan turned on his jets and passed Addison.  Addison finished with a Personal Record time of 17:27. He medaled in second place. He works so hard to train and prepare for these races. I love seeing his progress. Although he got a PR and came in second place, he wishes his time was even better.  He has a few more races and then state in October.  I know that he is pushing himself to get even faster.  Regardless, we are proud of him and love watching his enthusiasm. He is just an all around good kid and we love him so much!

Mountain Crest JV Boys took first place out of all the schools!

Labor-Day Weekend Camping trip up Emigration Canyon

We took our camper out for a little trip Labor Day weekend. The poor thing has been cooped up under the shed all summer long.  It has only gone out one other time this summer.  I kinda feel sorry for it.  Nobody ever plays with it much.

We headed to Emigration Canyon with family and friends with the initial goal of picking huckleberries while we were there, but the season this year for huckleberries was not a good one.  There were none to be found.  But, we still had fun playing, visiting and being in nature.

Avery was glad to have his friend Turner around to play with.  They are good buddies.
Addison climbed around alot , even getting his dad to climb into the pavilion and try their idea of zip lining on the wire that ran across to a tree.  They didn't succeed as they really didn't have the right things to do that ( like a zip line!  or a harness, or a glide).
Addison also passed the time chopping away at logs.
It wouldn't be camping without tinfoil dinners around the fire!
Shay and Ada are good friends and cousins.  I love how they can use their imaginations to entertain themselves.  They were making fairy homes with mud and sticks.
Ammon decided to hop in with Cole for a bit and play with the squeaky toys.
Night Night!  Addison crashed early, while the others always seem to take their time settling down.

Brigham City Temple Open House

Avery, Ada and I spent a beautiful day at the Brigham City Temple Open House with Grandma and Grandpa and beautiful Annika.  We were able to take a tour of the temple.  I loved that my children were able to see what it was like inside the temple.  We tell them, but it isn't the same as seeing it for themselves.  They are fortunate to be able to go inside before it is dedicated.  Then, they will have to wait until they can do baptisms or are endowed.  This was a special day for my kids to witness such a beautiful house of the Lord.  Addison is going on Wednesday with the youth and will also get to witness such a beautiful building.  It is a lot smaller than the Logan Temple, but it makes up for it with it's beauty.  It was beautiful with accent of "Peach Blossoms" throughout within the wood-work, carpeting, windows, etc.

It was a busy place pushing 1200 people through each hour.  They estimate to show it to over 370,000 people by the time the Open House is done. My thought was, "that's  a lot of cookies".  They had cookies and water at the end of the tour for everyone.  Most of us took two or three.  So if everyone coming through for the open house does the same, that will be close to a million cookies.  WOW!!!!!
