MCXC Closing Social

Addison's 2012 Cross Country Season is finished.  He had an amazing season and loved the group of friends that he got to run with each day. We are so proud of his progress and accomplishments.  He ended the season in the top eight on the team allowing him to go to State at Sugar house. He and a hand full of runners are planning on a race in California in December, so their training still continues each day. He has put in a lot of miles.
He was awarded with the "Outstanding JV Runner" award at the Closing Social dinner at the Copper Mill Restaurant. It was a great night for him. He is going to miss his good friends that are seniors this year.  Many of them will be off on their missions in six months.  They will be and are great examples for Addison. I look forward to next year and what it has in store for our boy.  To us, he is more than the "Outstanding JV Runner" on the Mountain Crest Cross Country team , he is our "Outstanding Son".

Region ~ Final Race of 2012 Season

Addison raced his final race of the 2012 season on Wednesday.  He started off great, was within the first twelve on the first stretch.  It worried me a bit because a few of his teammates were ahead of him for a little while. By the time he came around after the first stretch, he had lost them and was in the top four  overall.  He kept his pace and worked hard to stay up to the front.  He was in the lead for Mountain Crest for most of the last half.  He was doing so good.  I was so excited to see him doing so well.  He needed to come in first on the  Mountain Crest JV team to make the alternate spot for the Varsity at State.  He had this goal set and he wanted it bad.  He pushed to the end and came in third overall in the JV race leading his Mountain Crest JV team which put him on Varsity for state.  He hit another personal record of 17:25.  He was two seconds faster than his last time on this course. Most of his friends are seniors and on the Varsity team, so this was a great day for him.  He wanted to be able to participate as the alternate and be among his friends at State.  He gets a different uniform and to ride a different bus to State than the rest of the team.  I am glad he was able to do this and that it made him so happy as he succeeded in his goal.  I can't wait for next years season to see just how much better he will be.  We love our Addison.  GOOD JOB BUD!!! We are proud of your hard work and accomplishments this season.

Grandma and Grandpa Eborn were able to see two of Addison's races this season and are appreciated very much.  I know that Addison probably pushed himself even more knowing that they were  there watching him.  It is good to have support.   His dad also was able to make it.  I know that it means a lot to Addison to know that we care about him and support him.  I wouldn't miss it.  I love watching him.  It does my heart good to see him enjoying such a good thing.

Cache Box @ USU

Addison ran in the Cache Box XC Race this Wednesday on the USU course. This race includes, Box Elder, Bear River, West Side, Preston, Malad, Logan, Sky View and Mountain Crest.  He started off so good.  I was happy to see him in the top ten of all the boys in the first stretch.  By the time he came around again, he was in first.  I was so excited.  We watched and cheered as he kept his pace for the remaining distance ( 3.1 miles total). He kept the lead right up to the home stretch when a runner from Logan turned on his jets and passed Addison.  Addison finished with a Personal Record time of 17:27. He medaled in second place. He works so hard to train and prepare for these races. I love seeing his progress. Although he got a PR and came in second place, he wishes his time was even better.  He has a few more races and then state in October.  I know that he is pushing himself to get even faster.  Regardless, we are proud of him and love watching his enthusiasm. He is just an all around good kid and we love him so much!

Bob Firman Invitational in Boise

Addison raced JV for MCXC in Boise this Saturday.  This invitational is the largest in the country.  His time was 18:09.  He placed 9th in his JV race and received a metal for being in the top twenty.  Good Job Addison!

D'SMOOVE

Addison and his buddies formed a group they call the "Alpha Herd".  I don't know what that means, nor do I think they do either.  They made their own t-shirts and gave themselves nicknames.  Addison is "D-SMOOVE". What's that?  Who knows?  I just let him do his thing.   It's all out of fun~ so oh, well. 

They are off this morning to Boise for a Cross Country Invitational.  They look forward to this every year.  They go out to dinner, stay in a hotel, swim, ride a nice Coach Bus and just have fun as friends and teammates.  Addison runs tomorrow around 3:00.  I know he will do his best and look forward to him coming home to tell us all about it. I wish we could be there, but I have a workshop at USU from 9-3 that makes it impossible. He understands and knows we will be cheering him on from Logan.

MCXC vs. Box Elder

MCXC vs. Box Elder 

Addison raced Box Elder Wednesday in Mantua.  This was a course that he hasn't done before.  It is a pretty area.  There were hills and trails, roads and grass. It was a mixture of terrain. He did really good on the course.  He was trying so hard to be in the top six of Mountain Crest.  The top six get to race Varsity in Boise next week.  He just missed out.  He was actually seventh, because one senior was injured and wasn't able to race.  That bumped him to eighth.  He was disappointed.  He wanted to race varsity with his friends. His friends are seniors though~ and he still has a year to do that.  He has a lot of friends~ most of which are the seniors on the team, so it makes for tough competition.  For being a Junior, he is leading the group of other Juniors and younger by a good lead. He is doing great and will still race in Boise on the JV team.  He is excited for that.  They get to stay in a hotel and make a fun trip out of it.

Murray Invitational

Addison Ran in the Murray Invitation Friday. He placed 16th overall in the Junior Varsity Division. There were 429 boys in this race from 38 different schools.  They give medals to the top 20, so he did awesome!  His time was 17:59.7 which is a 5:47 minute mile for 3 miles.  He is really doing well and participating in something he enjoys with a group of people who are really good individuals.  We are so glad to see his progress and love him for doing his best!

First race of the MC 2012 season~ Alumni Race

Addison ran his first race Wed. night at Mountain Crest with the team and any alumni that wanted to join in.  There weren't very many alumni, but it was a good start to the season.  Addison and his friend Trevor had just gotten back from their Priest Camp and were exhausted.  Addison also had cut the bottom of his foot on the rocks in the Narrows and had a sore thigh due to a squirrel trap incident.  He was trying to set a trap with this big rock and the rock ended up falling on his leg instead of any squirrel.  Needless to say, he was not in the best condition for his first race regardless of his daily morning trainings this summer.  He did a great run, but didn't meet his best time.  It is okay, since it wasn't against another school. His first "OFFICIAL" race is on the 25th in American Fork.  It is fun to watch him run and be involved with such a great group of kids.

Avery and Ada ran in the Annual Wellsville Mile.  This is a huge event with all the fourth grade and fifth grade classes from eleven different schools from the south end of Cache Valley.  There are approximately 600 students for each grade.  It is always fun to be there and feel the kids excitement as they run.

 Addison joined his team to run all the races along the kids.  They were so awesome.  They would run non-stop encouraging all the runners to keep with it.  I loved watching Addison sticking with some of the underdogs and talking to them as they ran.  He ran all the races for about 12 miles. He was so sore when it was done.

 This is Patrick Lambert.  I have kind of have adopted him this year.  He struggles in school and always has.  He has no family support and it just breaks my heart.  I have been his reading teacher this year, so I have really tried to make a point to make him feel important.  He has a hard life.  His mom has been gone for a few years now. She just left her five kids. His dad works most of the time and isn't able to support his kids like he probably wants to.  It really is a sad situation.  Anyway, Patrick has been over to our house a few times so that I could help him with homework,etc. and we were talking about the Wellsville Mile.  He always wants to know if I am going to be there and if I am going to take pictures of him. I showed up in Wellsville and he quickly found me.  I knew that he would probably be in jeans, so I came prepared.  I pulled out a pair of exercise pants and told him to go change in the porta-potty.  He was so happy.  I let him keep them.  Of course, I took pictures and yelled my heart out as he ran.  He did great and he felt good too knowing that someone way there for him.  I can't help but want to help him.

 Tear-jerker!  I am such a baby!  I got all choked up as I saw Addison running along side both Ada and Avery during their races.  He was cheering them on the whole way.  It just made me proud.  It was so neat to see that support in my kids.

 Cooling off!  It was the hottest day to have this race and they were in black t-shirts too!  Avery's race was the last race, so he was pretty hot and tired by the time he started to run. That surely affected his time.
