Ada's Ear Piercing Day!

With Ada turning Eight years old, we decided to let her get her ears pierced if she wanted to. She WANTED to. We had a day off from school on Tuesday and decided to make it happen. We went to the mall and picked out the earrings and boy was she excited. I of course talked it up to not hurting very much, feeling like a quick pinch or maybe even like a shot and then it wouldn't hurt. She hopped right up on the chair and was ready to go.

She watched as the girl got the piercing gun out. She was still ready.

First came the left ear. Ada's face looked like we really hurt her feelings. She didn't cry, she didn't make a peep. She was being so brave. I could tell that she was shocked at how much it really did hurt. I told her that she was so brave and that we needed to hurry and get the right ear done. The Right ear came next.
She was so tough. I could see the tears coming. We let her look at her new ear bling in the mirror. She was still glad that she did it, but it was NOT like a quick pinch or even a shot she told me. She was so brave and I knew she wanted to cry but was sucking it in. It only took a minute and she was off and running so happy that she finally had her ears pierced.
She now is very responsible with cleaning them and turning them often. My girl is growing up.

She is just to cute to be growing up so fast. I'm sorry it hurt, but I'm glad it was just for a little while.

Love you Ada,

Grandpa Bart
