I changed it up a bit for Ammon's Birthday. I wanted to do something more thoughtful and fun, so I planned a surprise party with all his friends. He is only 39 but I told them all that I wanted to celebrate his birthday before he officially turns over the hill next year. In reality.... I've been wanting to have a friend get together for a while and thought that this was a good excuse. I invited many of his closer friends a week ago or so. Saturday arrived..... I told Ammon that Reese and Stefani wanted to meet us for dinner at Texas Road House around 6:30. I knew that I needed him to get showered and ready. While he showered, I told him I was going to take down all the signs from the yard sale that we just had. I did do that, but I also met a Papa Johns delivery guy at the Flying J down the road since he wouldn't deliver it to us. I didn't think we could BBQ, where it was a surprise and I didn't want to have all the food, etc. in our house/fridge.....so I thought pizza - along with all the salads and desserts our friends brought would work out. The Pizza guy was 10 minutes late. I only had 5 minutes to spare to get home before guests arrived at 6:00. I arranged for Nate and Christy to pickup the cake I ordered. I came home and told Ammon that I decided that we weren't meeting Reese anymore. He asked why? and I told him that I decided to just have all his friends come to us for a party. Outside were his friends and we starting setting up for our get together. We didn't yell surprise or anything but he didn't suspect any of it. I invited a lot of his friends and most of them made it. We missed those that had conflicts though. I am grateful for the friends that he has. He has some really good friends, he has fun with them and admires them all. I appreciate them taking the time out of their busy schedules to spend some time with him on his special day. He generally doesn't like the attention placed on him, so I didn't make it too extreme by roasting him or making him uncomfortable. I just wanted to do something for him and have friends around that mean a lot to him share in his day. Happy Birthday Ammon! We love you!

Happy Birthday Ammon!!! Thanks for being a part of our family.
Love, Bart & Iris
Now if he could just hold it at 39? I'm sure Ammon will do better at it than most of the rest of the ale gender in this day and age.
We are glad you are a part of our tribe.
Love you all and always,
Grandpa Bart
Very thoughtful of you Alison, sounds like a great party.
...such a lovely idea!!! And here is your birthday card...on my desk...unmailed! Ugh! The perils of getting old and being forgetful!
