Cross Country Closing Social

Ammon, Addison and I attended Addison Cross Country Closing Social at the Coppermill last night. There are 145 runners on the team which made for a packed house with all the parents there too!  The night is dedicated to awarding certain runners for different areas, watching slide shows of the season, listening to speeches from the coaches and being among friends.  Many runners were honored for their great seasons. Addison was the final one to be brought up.  They gave him the "LOOK OUT!" award because he has improved dramatically each race and is sure to be a competitor in the next season.  He was also given a medal from his JV race at regions where he had his personal best of 17:46 and 7th overall.  He was 2nd best on the JV Team and 9th on the Whole MC team. As a sophomore with two more years to go, there is some great races to be watched in 2012 and 2013.  Way to go Addison.

His coach asked me to come up with him as he received his award. (Parents don't usually go up too)  He wanted me to give everyone ( 400 people) a lesson on how to say our name.  He gave me the microphone and I simply told him to pretend that I was hitting him ( I lightly hit him) and in causes you to say "OW!"  that is how you remember that it is "ow" in Daugs instead of "DOGS."  I only embarrassed Addison a little bit. All his buddies were there to see his mom giving a lesson on pronunciation.
