Dinner and a Show

It's always a fun night when I can get out with some friends/family and leave the duties at home. I was grateful for the invite to go to dinner and to the Forgotten Carols in Ogden with a few of my sister-in-laws and our cute nieces Malauri and Makayla. I appreciate having the "girl" time and enjoying each others company. I have seen the Forgotten Carols long ago when it first started, so it has been a while. I had forgotten the story. It is a great way to start off the season. My favorite part was actually the end. After the show was all done, applause had been shared, etc. Michael McClaen came back out as himself and shared some thoughts. He gets the crowd thinking about the true meaning of Christmas. We all ( the whole arena) locked arms and hands as we sang " We can be together, forever some day." It was very touching as it was Winnie, Ammon's mother that started the tradition of going to the Forgotten Carols many, many years ago. We were asked to sing it to that someone who was not there with us that night. Michael emphasized that they would be there in our hearts and be able to hear "Our Carol". I am not sure, but I think that Rachel and Naomi may have been singing to Winnie at that time. I know that I was. I hope that she heard us. It is a wonderful feeling, knowing that we can be together forever someday.
To conclude the evening, he asked that we not clap anymore, for fear that the spirit would leave. Thousands of us ended the evening singing "Silent Night" to our Savior in remembrance of his birth. We were to think of him however we wanted, as a babe in swaddling clothes , or KING of KINGS. Regardless, he is our brother, our savior, our friend and it is because of him and his birth that we can be together forever someday. For him, I am grateful.
May we all remember that it is not about the gifts and decorations. It is about our Savior...a reminder about us and who we want to be, how we want our time here to be and eternally. I am thankful for this reminder. I am glad it came early in the season so that I can make it my focus, as it should be all year. Happy Birthday to our Savior and Merry Christmas to you all. I am very blessed to have each of you in my life.
