Spring Break In St. George

We headed down to St. George for Spring Break with our friends Dan and Marsha Thatcher. We were tired of the COLD weather and needed a change. We booked a motel and spent a few days playing. We settled into our rooms ( not worth mentioning) and then let the kids play in the motel pool before we were to meet for dinner. It was refeshing after the long drive. The weather was PERFECT! It was about 75- 80 degrees each day. We then met some more friends ( Mat and Jen Thompson) at Texas Roadhouse. We had a lot of fun and the kids loved the food.
Friday morning, we went biking and hiking. The boys took Bear Claw Poppy down with their bikes as I drove the van down to the bottom to pick them up. I didn't mind because the kids loved looking for treasures on the trails. I was able to ride the trail the next day with the hubbies and the wives. It was fun. Dan did the van shuttling for that ride so that I could go. Thanks Dan!

We also played at an Awesome park. It had so much to do including bike trails close by. So we did some pedaling around there too. I was not so smart and took a jump that my son told me to try. I hit the jump fine, but my foot slipped off the pedal and the pedal came back and bit my shin really hard. I had blood gushing out of two deep holes. I sucked it up and cleaned it up. I am sure that one of them needed stitches- Oh well. I will have some pretty scars. I always love to have a picture with my pretty girl. I love her so much.

We spent Friday afternoon at the Washington Indoor pool.
It has it all. Slides, toys, a lazy river, etc. All the adults joined in the fun and we played with our kids there for hours.

Saturday started with more bike riding and hiking. We hiked red rocks behind our motel in the late afternoon. That is Avery's heaven. Anything for him to explore and climb is ideal for him. We hiked to a small little Arch and also found a cool cave that someone enclosed with rocks and built a fire/ chimney inside it. The wind was picking up the higher we went, but it was a blast!I was working on my cliff climbing skills. I was using some serious upper body strength to pull myself along those rocks. Okay, the fact that Avery decided to pop into the background of my picture ( on purpose) rats me out. I didn't really even look like I was doing it anyway.
I hung there and pulled my body up real fast hoping Ammon could catch a good shot.

However, this shot of Ammon looks pretty good.

Here are more shots on the Red Rocks.

Our cute ( wind blown) family!

Cool Cave with a fireplace inside. We are not sure if this is old or
something someone has done recently?

At the top of the Red Rocks. Sitting on a small arch.

After playing on the rocks, we took the kids to the cities fountains and let them play in the water to wash off. Again this was Avery's heaven. We cleaned them up and headed back for the cold in Logan at about 6:00. We had nine of us in our green van. It was so fun and the kids were excellent. Perfect trip in my mind!

Now back to reality! Getting the kids to bed on time, school, work, practices, etc. I love being a mom. I love my kids, so it's okay with me.

It sounds like, you filled up your days with some real fun. I'm sorry my sweet daughter got hurt. I hope it didn't spoil the rest of your trip. You've got to be carefull when one of your boys tells you to do something. Glad you got som sunshine along the way. That's a real bonus this year. We are glad you made it home safely.

Love you all and always,

Grandpa Bart
